It was the day of the first task for the Quad-Wizard Tournament and although she didn't want to admit it, Jill was a bit nervous. Despite the fact that she knew she had taken some safety precautions due to the memory of the last wizarding tournament, she still felt butterflies in her stomach. It's just that - they're so young and if something were to go wrong... Jill really cared about her students and didn't want anything terrible to happen to them, yet she realized that she couldn't protect them forever. Being a Ravenclaw, she also knew it wasn't wise to protect them forever, either - the students had to learn to protect themselves. Trying to stop herself from thinking about worst case scenarios and keep her motherly instinct at bay, she focused on getting ready for the first task. Strolling out on to the courtyard, Jill surveyed the growing crowd of students who were gathering to watch the first task. She kept an eye out for the four house champions - Josi Sky Emrald, Colleen Marie Hadley, Mai Gamit-Aecus, and Morana Neus. She wondered what it must feel like to be a champion in a tournament like this, what must be going through their minds. Still trying to get rid of her butterflies, she reminded herself that the Goblet of Fire had chosen these four young ladies to represent their houses itself and that the Goblet of Fire always magically chose the best candidate. I'm sure they'll all be fine - they all deserved to be their house champion and I'm sure they'll all represent their houses well and make them proud.Realizing that the gathering crowd was waiting for something to happen, Jill got out her wand and whispered Sonorus. "Hello everyone and thank you for showing up for the first task of this year's Quad-Wizard Tournament." An excited cheer rose up from the crowd. "The first task will begin shortly. I am waiting for the other judges and the champions to show up so we can get started." Smiling at the crowd, Jill let their excitement somehow get her excited too. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: I apologize - I am trying to straighten out who the judges for the QWT are going to be. It was going to be myself and the four Heads of Houses, but not all of the Head of Houses can do it. I am trying to find replacements so that the tournament can finally begin! Again, I apologize for it taking so long. What's going to happen: I explain the task to the four champions and then each champion RPs how they handle the task. At the end of the task (when all four champions have RPed how they handled it), myself and the other four QWT judges (one professor from each house), will rate each champion on a scale of 1 - 10. For example:
Jill Rosanna Briarson: 9, 7, 8, 6 George Adam Sparewell: 10, 8, 9, 8 Hitoshi Kuraimono: 9, 9, 9, 9 James Sullivan: 6, 7, 10, 9 Narcissa Malfoy: 8, 7, 8, 7
Josi's total score: 42 (2nd Place) Colleen's total score: 38 (4th Place) Mai's total score: 43 (1st Place) Morana's total score: 39 (3rd Place) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gryffindor QWT Champion: Josi Sky Emrald Hufflepuff QWT Champion: Colleen Marie Hadley Ravenclaw QWT Champion: Mai Amy Gamit-Aecus Slytherin QWT Champion: Morana Neus
Back-Up Gryffindor QWT Champion: Rainen Ismaree Harvey Back-Up Hufflepuff QWT Champion: Tami Ashburn Back-Up Ravenclaw QWT Champion: Sarah Black Back-Up Slytherin QWT Champion: Damon Darkweather
Gryffindor QWT Judge: George Adam Sparewell Hufflepuff QWT Judge: Hitoshi Kuraimono Ravenclaw QWT Judge: James Sullivan Slytherin QWT Judge: Narcissa Malfoy
Back-Up Gryffindor QWT Judge: Katy J. Salmalin Back-Up Hufflepuff QWT Judge: POSITION OPEN Back-Up Ravenclaw QWT Judge: Pearl Dimaché Back-Up Slytherin QWT Judge: Draco Malfoy

(If you need a Gryffindor judge, I am available.)
George was nervous. Everyone probably was. The last First Task he saw was in his last year at Hogwarts, and it scared him out of his mind. Dragons, there was nothing more dangerous and scary than dragons. He desperately hoped that this time the First Task wouldn't be so dangerous. Of course, as a Gryffindor professor he should be searching out his campion, and he was going to, but first, he had a promise to keep. So here he was, on the courtyard, searching for Colleen Hadley.

same here, I'd actually like to judge a tournament like this, it sounds interesting
Katy watched from the stands as the Headmistress announced the QWT First Task. She cheered with the students around her, wondering what exactly Josi would have to do to win this thing.

Making her way on to the courtyard, Colleen saw the throng of spectators. Oh wow...that's a lot more people than I thought... Looking out at the crowd, she realized that all those people would be watching her while she did the task.
Oh goodness...no time to get stage fright now... Trying to stay brave, Colleen spotted the Headmistress and began to make her way over to where she was standing. She figured that as one of the champions, she was meant to stand in front of the crowd with her.
Wow...I'm the first champion here? Colleen wondered if being the first champion on the scene was a good thing or a bad thing. I wonder what I'm going to have to do...

Professor Sparewell made his way towards the Headmistress, sighing that he couldn't find Colleen. Thankfully his position as a Ministry Worker as well as Professor wouldn't chase him off or anything.
Just as he neared her, he finally spotted Colleen, looking a little nervous. He didn't know if she knew that her father would be watching, but in any case, he need to see how she was doing.
"Miss Hadley! Colleen!"

Lydia made her way outside to the courtyard to watch the first task of the QWT. She had her Gryffindor robes and red/gold striped scarf on. She slid on her red hat and gold gloves, and she was all set. Once she got out there, she saw almost the entire school sitting out there. Whoa. Aren't I glad I couldn't enter... she thought. Lydia saw Colleen the Hufflepuff champion and she smiled. "Good luck!" she said even though she'd never met the female.
Lydia looked around for someone she knew, but had no luck. She leaned against something, she didn't know what it was, and continued to look around for a familiar face. How come I can't find the people I know, but I see like, a million others I don't?!? she thought and smirked. Typical of me to flip out... They'll all get here soon...

Chris was in the crowd, waiting to see Colleen...just like all these other people. His stomach gave a worried lurch. He didn't like the thought of her doing anything dangerous, and really hoped that when they were assured it was all much safer now that they weren't false assurances.
Of course, he would have waited in the common room and accompanied her down, and he hoped she wasn't mad that he hadn't. It wasn't that he didn't want to support her...it was just that he had had a thought and an idea...and he thought it would help her better. He had slipped down to the kitchens and grabbed an apple, some warm, buttered toast and a flask of tea. He had been afraid that she would skip breakfast or not eat properly with nerves, and knew she needed to.
Seeing the familiar blonde head nearing the Headmistress, he weaved in and out through the students until he reached her. Reaching out his hand, he placed it on Colleen's shoulder from behind.
"Hey, how are you?" he asked gently. "I've brought you breakfast. Have you eaten?"

"What is the first mission anyway?" DLo asked. He was right behind Lydia. Actually, he was what she was leaning on. He must have been solid enough, because she hadn't noticed yet.

What is the first mission anyway? The voice in her ear made her jump and she gasped loudly. Lydia turned around and saw DLo standing behind her, actually, she was leaning on him. "Oh you scared me! And I'm sorry for leaning on you! I thought it..." she trailed off deciding not to finish her sentence. Lydia gave him a quick hug to show she was sorry. "And to answer your question... I have no idea, and I don't think the champions know either," she replied and smiled warmly.
"Do you wanna go sit down?" she asked, "Or are you waiting for someone else.." Her pink lips tilted into a light smile as she waited for his response. Lydia bit the very inside edge of her bottom lip as she waited. It was a habit for Lydia to bite her bottom lip when she was waiting for something.

Morana walked confidently to the front of the crowd and towards the Headmistress, her body language signaling calm and collectedness despite her ever increasing nervousness.
"Ready for action!" she said with a mock salute to her, before lounging around, looking for the other champions and anyone she might know. She spotted Colleen and gave her a nod of hello and a small smile before minding her business.
'I wonder how the other champions are feeling?' Morana thought to herself, playing with her wand.
It felt strange, since it was customary for her to play with her hair whenever she was nervous, but she had it done in two tight French braids, so that it would not get in the way.
Morana didn't know what was coming up for the first task, so she decided to dress lightly: a pair of faded, dark blue, form-fitting stretch jeans; a black, v-neck/two inch strap tank top; a faded, dark blue mini jean jacket; black leather cut-off gloves, and a pair of old sneakers.
Sighing impatiently, she both excitedly awaited and anxiously feared the first task, but decided that it was better to get it over with; so with a heavy heart and butterflies invading her stomach, Morana waited, all the while silently praying to pull through.

Colleen gave a nervous smile to the Headmistress and tried to think of positive things to keep her calm. There were so many people out there who were supporting her and with every Hufflepuff counting on her, she was going to give it her best shot no matter what. There's no turning back now...and I won't disappoint those who care about me!
As she waited for the task to be announced, she was a bit surprised to see Professor Sparewell coming towards her. He had called out her name and Colleen wondered what was going on. He's a Gryffindor professor...shouldn't he be looking for Josi? Curious about what her Magical Government Professor was up to, she turned to him. "Professor Sparewell? What are you doing here? I mean...well...I know you're probably here to watch the task, but...what do you need?" Wow...maybe my nerves are getting to me too much...I just sounded like an idiot!
While she waited for Professor Sparewell to respond, she saw a Gryffindor girl wish her good luck. "Thank you!" Colleen shouted, although she wasn't really sure who the Gryffindor girl was.
Just then, she felt a hand on her shoulder and turned around to see that it was her boyfriend, Chris. "Chris!" Colleen hugged him, glad that he was there. Somehow just having him with her made her feel a lot more comfortable and relaxed. She was surprised to see that he had brought her breakfast. "Awww, thank you Chris! That's so sweet!" She gave him a quick kiss and took a piece of toast. Silently, she was really grateful that he had brought her breakfast because she hadn't eaten that much, but she didn't want to tell him that because she was afraid that it might worry him.
A few minutes later Morana, the Slytherin champion, joined Colleen and the Headmistress looking really confident. Oh wow...Morana doesn't seem nervous at all... She returned Morana's greeting with a smile and wondered how she could seem so calm at a time like this.

George Sparewell walked up to her, and smiled. How could this happen to such a sweet girl, I hope she does all right.
"Sorry, my dear, I just wanted to see you before the task, how are you feeling? Are you ok? Are you ready for this?" he said, doing his best to not tell her about her father, in case she didn't know.

Amber walked over to the Courtyard. Today was the first task of the Quad Wizard Tournament. She had her brunette colored hair tied back in a pony tail, her cloak on, and her Gryffindor scarf on. Of course, she also had on her robes.
She was nervous and excited at the same time about this special event. The first year heard stories of what happened a few years ago. " Dragons....wow! ", she thought.
She looked out into the field and saw two champions, a Slytherin and a Hufflepuff. She wondered where the others two champions are. She noticed that she was not the only student out here about to watch the tournament. There were other students here as well. Basically the whole school was out here.
The first year was standing next to two other Gryffindors: a male and a female. " Hello ", she replied to them.

Post by Ian Blackthorne on Dec 11, 2005 20:39:45 GMT -5
Ian woke up very early the morning of the First Task, as he was very nervous that something would happen to one of the Champions-especially Josi, whom he had taking a liking to, as she had helped him a lot finding his way around the school. After he had woken up and done his morning ritual (Ironically it was to simply wash his face with cold water) he put on a black T-shirt and his best jeans, and overtop that he put on his favorite grey jacket as he walked down to the Great Hall.
Ian then waited a couple of hours as the rest of the students woke up, and he sat at the Gryffindor table, wondering how it could be so cold inside. Reminding himself that it was December, he decided to go down to where the Task would be held, figuring that he might as well get a good seat.
Noticing that two of the champions, the Hufflepuff named Colleen and the Slytherin one he did not know were already there, as well as a couple professors and some students. Walking up to Lydia, he lightly tapped her arm as she talked to DLo and said, "Hey Lydia! How you feeling? Oh, have you seen Josi yet?"

Lydia noticed that Colleen replied to her simple good luck with a quick thank you. She just smiled slightly as she stood next to DLo. Suddenly, she heard a high voice coming from closeby. Hello, the voice said. Lydia turned around and saw a young Gryffindor. "Hello," she replied politely, "I'm Lydia, what's your name?" she asked and held out her hand.
Then, she felt a light tap on her arm, and the Gryffindor prefect turned the other way and saw Ian. "Oh hey! I haven't seen you for a while," she stated with a friendly smile. "I'm good, it's kinda cold out here, but besides that, I'm good. How are you?" she questioned him. She felt herself shiver and goosebumps appeared on her arms, legs, and neck. Oh, have you seen Josi yet? "No, I haven't. But I hope she's okay, I'm sure she'll be here soon," Lydia informed him. I hope she will... she thought and cleared the thought out of her mind, for she knew Josi wouldn't back out.

Jacklyn Potter walked out to the courtyard, excited for the first task to begin. She spotted two QWT Champions out there and went towards the Hufflepuff one, Colleen.
"Colleen! Chris! Wait up!" she exclaimed as she ran towards Colleen and Chris. She stopped in front of them and smiled at them. "Are you nervous Colleen! Well, don't be! You'll do fantastic! I know you will!" Jacklyn said with an encouraging grin as she hugged her friend.
The girl then waved and walked over to the Slytheirn Champion. "Hey, Morana! Thought I'd come by here and wish you luck, so...Good luck!" she said with a smile.
She then spotted Lydia, one of her good friends, and walked over to her. "Hey Lydia! Where's Josi??" she asked, worried for her friend.

Josi lying in bed snoring loudly, it was a surprise that she had actually got any sleep last night - she was so nervous for the following day. The day had come.
As soon as her alarm went off, Josi rolled over to her side, glaring at her alarm clock, "No... I don't wanna get up no-" she stopped mid-sentence, staring at the clock as she remembered what day it was, "Crap!" she exclaimed, sitting up right away. Great, I'm going to be late for the task! Oh my God it's the first task! she continued thinking to herself, as she got up and dressed herself into her Gryffindor robes.
Once putting her hair up, and applying a simple amount of eye-liner she hurried out of her common room. As she passed the Great Hall she pondered getting a quick breakfast, but since she was late she thought it a better idea to go straight down to the - wait a second, she didn't know where she was supposed to go! Maybe there'd be a meeting in the Great Hall in there or something, so she finally decided on going into the Great Hall.
No one was there, but since she was already in the room, she thought she might as well grab a bagel - it wasn't good to do things on an empty stomach.
Fortunately for her, Josi met up with a house elf who told her where to go, the Courtyard. Running as she ate she made her way down to the Courtyard at top pace. As she approached the headmistress she felt her stomach toss and turn, she just wanted to hurl. There were so many people there, and she wanted to win for Gryffindor. What happened if she lost, and embarrassed herself too? What happened if someone died? Don't think like that - it won't happen... Josi thought trying to convince herself.
"Sorry I'm late," Josi said, noticing that she wasn't the last champion to show, "That's good," she said to herself, but hoped that Mai would show up soon, she didn't want her to get in trouble.
Looking around she noticed a few Gryffindors, giving them all a wave, and forced a weak smile. It was hard to pretend she wasn't nervous, or scared, but somehow she managed. All she could do now was wait for the task to begin, and let the adventure of it all un-fold.

Just as soon as Jacklyn asked Lydia where Josi was, the girl spotted her. She smiled encouragingly at her good friend and went over to her. As soon as she arrived near Josi, she immediately hugged her tightly, but not too tight until she cut of her air suply.
"Josi! I was worried that you wouldn't come! Are you nervous? I'm feeling so nervous and excited for everyone!" Jacklyn rambled.
She smiled sheepishly at Josi and let go of Josi. "Sorry about that. I tend to ramble when I'm nervous or excited and in this case, it's both!" she said jokingly.

Mai showed up last of the champions. She had been extremely nervous of what the outcoem of the day would be, so she found it proper if she spent some time in her dorm alone with complete silence, just to think. Unfortunately time ran away with itself and she was nearly too late for the most important event in her school life. She had been metally and physically preparing herself for this day since her name came from the goblet.
Nervousness had been wiped clean from her face as she saw the Three Champions from their own houses. Unable to speak, she nodded her head towards Colleen in a welcoming matter and gave a smile for her. Chris had showed up for her, it was sweet.
Mai had put her hair back as to keep it out of her way, just in a simple pony tail. No make-up, no extra clothing, just a warm blue jogging suit. She wanted to represent her house with as much pride as possible. She topped this outfit with her house robe to keep her warm.
She saw the expressions of her fellow champions and decided she should stay quiet unless someone else started conversation first, she was not much for talking when under a bit of stress anyway.

" Amber. Nice to meet you, Lydia ". She shook her hand, then heard another voice, a male's voice saying, Hey Lydia! How you feeling? Oh, have you seen Josi yet. She saw that it was the Gryffindor Prefect. She listened to their conversation for a little while, then decided to look down for the Gryffindor Champion. " Where is she? ", Amber thought as she searched.
She finally found Josi, the champion. She waved and shouted, " Good luck! " to Josi excitedly. The first year noticed that the champion was nervous about today. She would be nervous too if the whole house on Gryffindor counted on you to win.....and stressed.
The first year rubbed her hands together. She went for her robe pocket and pulled out some black leather gloves with fleace inside. She put them on. Amber saw Jacklyn talking to Josi and waved to her. " Hello Jacklyn! ".
