There have been girls and in the boys dorms, boys in the girls dorms, and even students in other common rooms. There has also been students in the Chamber of Secrets when they aren't Parselmouths. It seems that some people that have multiple characters use the passwords they have from one character to get into places that another one of their characters can access. I was thinking about what should be done to students who are found where they are not supposed to be, but some students seem to think that they should be allowed to go to these places. I'd like some opinions.
Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so?
If so, why do you think that? If not, what should be done to students who are found where they are not supposed to be?

well in the book there was the situation that when the boys (ron and harry) tried to enter the girls dorm, the stairs went out and sent htem back down, so thus in the book boys were not allowed in the girls dorm and there were spells to keep it that way. However, there were references to hermione entering the boys dorm on occassion
Personally, I have no other characters on this site (Blaze is enough trouble to maintain) but I think people should be on their honor to not enter other common rooms, which most people seem to obey. However, I'm sure there could be exceptions of people entering other common rooms using invisibility cloaks (though these are really rare and it would be unrealisticfor many students to have them) or that potion (i cant remember t for the life of me) that allows you to look like another person
as far as monitering this, it should be up to the prefects and heads of houses to delete posts that they feel are out of place. In some cases, I dont see much problem with students entering another dorm or comon room, as long as it relates to the plot and is PG-13 and within the rules of the site. The messages that are explicit or have sexual allusions are the ones that bother me. Thats why i deleted the party in the slytherin girls dorm, but had no control over the one in the boys dorm.
regarding punishment, perhaps you should modify somehting in the rules to say that if a student is found in an area s/he is not meant to be, they will first lose 20 points for the house. If it happens a second time they lose 50....if they are stupid enough to do it a third time, they should be banned from the site
Thats my two cents

well i think girls should be allowed in boys dorms because it says in the books hermione was in the boys dorm, but they shouldnt stay loong. and no boys in girls!! because they cant get in, remember? (detention if caught?)and i dont think that if you a (example here:)hufflepuff you should be in slytherin common room, unless, well, u have a poly juice potion and are pretending to be one of your other characters like in the books, and if they are doing that and they are caught they should have detention. and that last question, no unless they are with someone who does.

I personally agree with both, thought I feel that since there is no mention of other House members being invited to other dorms, thatit shouldn't be there. And with using Polyjucie potion, I say they have a time limit before they have to say that potion is begining to wear off (being as it is only for an hour) And if you recall, there are only suppose to be 5 invisability robes, and 4 of them have been located. (Harry, Crouch Jr., 2 for Moody) So to say you use an ivisablitly cloak, whats the point anyways? you cant do anything with it? So if anyone from another house everter the other common rooms, they need detention, and it is the responibility of the teachers of the Houses to catch those.
Lastly, girl are allowed, if they make it, but boys are absolutly not, and the stairs become slide for a bit. So keep it clean at least, but no boys in girl's.

Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? In honor of the HP books, no. Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? Likewise: yes, unless the Headmistress changed that... Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? No, unless someone of that particular house let's them in: even then, I highly doubt the other members of that house would allow them to stay there long. Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? No, unless someone with that power accompanies them (like how Harry lead Ron and Lockhart through the Chamber.)
What should be done with them should they be caught is, like Mr. Phoenis mentioned, up to the Head of the House.

Agree With All of the above:
Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? Yes, becuase there would be more fun on this site and spice things up a bit. And it would get your character a chance to explore more grounds and have a chance to see more of the castle.
Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? Yes, becuase as in the books, Hormine is always sneaking into the boys dorms and also ginny sneaked into the boys dorms too (correct me if I'm wrong) So I think it is fair to allow the girls to enter the boys dorms too.
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? Sure why not, I'd be really cool to enter into different house's common rooms. But there should be punishment for being caught.
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? Well that only counts if you are with a person that has the ability to speak to snakes to get into the chamber of secrets. And you can be with a demon or a vampire when you enter the forbiddon forest so you wont get killed.
If not, what should be done to students who are found where they are not supposed to be? Well they should be punished, sneaking off into an area that is not allowed always ends up with some punishment. But if your not caught, then your safe. And detentions would be the best solution to any rule breaking situation.

Well, there is quite an opinion on this, I will be very honest, that I am a major culprit of this! Only one of my charaters though. The way I see it is that it is aganced the rules, but that nessasarly does not mean that students will not break the rules. There should be punishment, and my character did get punished, so I think that punishment is the best solution, even thouhg it might not end it, it should make things intresting.
I also agree that if acompinied with onohter student w/ the abilities to go into secret places it acceptable.

Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? Well, if the boys can hack, then, yes they should be able to. If the person behind the character can figure out the password, then they should be allowed to go in, because the character probably would have figured it out. But if the students are caught by a professor or prefect, they should definitely be punished with detentions and the like. Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? In the books it says that the girls are allowed in the boys dorms, so I think that it is pkay if we are really going by the books. But...it also isn't fair to the guys. I don't know, basically the same that I said for the guys. ^.^ Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? No, I really don't think that they should...in the books it is strictly not allowed, and I don't think that it should be allowed on here. It's just not right...you don't want everyone on the site to know your secret plots and such. I know people make multiple characters, so that makes it kind of hard for them to not know stuff. But, why can't they settle for just posting there as the character in that house? Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? No, they shouldn't! Well, they can go, but they better get caught and punished. This is a good point to bring up the Forbidden Forest. (Some) animagi's think that they can walk into the forest and not get hurt. Yes, if you are not a student and an animagi, you should be allowed, but the only time I think a student should be allowed in is if they have a creature status. (This not being animagi, as in like demon, vampire, fairy, centaur, lycan, etc..) And the creatures really aren't doing anything about it. I find that to be a problem, not enough professors and such are getting after students for being in the wrong places...I just think that that makes it less and less like the actual Harry Potter series. *shrugs* But, that's only my opinion.

Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? If they can figure out the password, and if other girls don't have a problem then why not? It doesn't say in the books that it's impossible to find a way to get into girls dorms, does it? I don't think it does.. so why not?
Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? Certainly, we're reinacting Harry Potter. Hermione had been allowed in the boys dorms, couldn't she?
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? I don't like this idea, unless there is some sort of a good reason.. or if a certain house member pulls another one into it.. If you know what I mean..
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? No. Not at all. Incase, as Morana stated, if it is like the Harry/Ron thing in Chamber of Secrets

Basically agreeing with Morana on all points over here...no offense meant to anyone else who made the same points, I'm just too tired to read throught everyone's and thought I'd put in my tuppence worth as I'm guessing the Head is looking for as many reactions as possible...so, in my own words...
Boys in girls dorms - Absolutley NOT!!!!! This is Hogwarts...there is a magical slide mechanism on the stairs preventing boys from entering, remember? I'm sorry to anyone who wants to give their character a way to figure out a method by which this can be overcome in order to carry out specific plots, but not even the best student could twiddle with a spell like that, clearly put in place by one or all of the founders of the school. I don't care if you're a prodigy. It's just not possible. I thought the idea was to keep this as close to Hogwarts as possible.
Girls in boy's dorms - ABSOLUTELY!!!!! We know that in the books it wasn't allowed, but it was possible...how many times have we seen Hermione up with Harry and Ron?! So, again, to remain in keeping with the books, girls should be able to post in boy's dorms, but should be punished if 'caught' there. I realise that catching people is easier on an RP site than in real time so Professors shouldn't crash every thread, but should crash say every fourth or fifth...you get my drift?
Students entering other common rooms - Thought long and hard about this one, but I've come to a conclusion. We know from the books that it's nearly , but not quite, impossible. So strolling in and out should be beyond students. Again, I don't care if you're a prodigy, the teachers aren't that dumb and neither is the magic on the castle weak. However, at the same time, it is possible. So I think that for it to happen it would have to be in the situation where a student from the house the other student was trying to enter intentionally let them in, and the first post of the thread would have to be made by this person...something along the lines of "randomname whispered the password and scrambled in the portrait hole, holding it open in order to allow anotherrandomname to slip in behind" I think that at this stage there would have to be a limited amount of God RPing allowed, perhaps, on the part of the other house members, if they want to get the intruder out straight away, and then the intruder should no longer be allowed to post on that thread, but have to wait to be allowed in again. I also think being let in should be a very very rare occurance. For a start, not many people are going to bring others from different houses into their own anyway, unless there's a sinister plot underway. But if a person has been thrown out of a common room they shouldn't be able to re-enter for a certain time period after...say a week or two...otherwise it's just not realistic.
Students in places where powers are required if they don't have that power - Stupid. Unrealistic. Not Hogwarts. This is kind of like my common room answer- if they are taken, then fine, but there should be restrictions in place on how often it can happen, and it should be at their own peril. None of this "nothing could hurt him/her because of an ancient, unbreakable shield that had been in the family for years that he/she had just cast" That's making your charcter all-powerful and defeating the purpose of role-playing. As for the Forbidden forest, anyone can go there, but it should be at their own peril. Possibly, it should be less dangerous for people transformed into animals, as vampires would surely be more likely to go for humans. But still, own peril... if you want to enter a place where your character can get killed and you really don't want to be killed, you should first PM the creatures likely to kill you to ask their permission to enter and leave without being harmed. And wait for it to be granted. Perhaps the Vampire King and Queen could take on the task of making sure there is a list available of people that have permission to enter the forest without being killed- I don't mean the character actually has permission from the Vampire King or Queen- fair enough if they do, you're sorted then!- I mean just that you can start and/or participate in a thread without dark creatures entering it, as if your presence in the forest had gone unnoiticed as such. And this permission should have to be re-applied for on each visit to the forest. Which should be rare. Harry and the gang were exceptional in that they entered the forest at all, never mind the amount of times they did, but even they were only there a couple of times. Again. none of the 'nothing can happen' thing....
think that's all!

Well, in the case of the Chamber of Secrets, why not have an actual basilisk as a character, and make the board lethal? If a person who isn't a parselmouth, or being accompanied by one, and therefore cannot control the Basilisk, enters the chamber, they're killed. I'd say that would be a bit of an incentive not to go there if you don't have the power.
On the other questions, well, I'm not a student, so I'll leave that to the people who are.

Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? Only if it's to visit someone special to you. (I.E. Girlfriend) Well that is self expanitory
Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? Same as above. (I.E. Boyfriend) Same as above
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? NO...Unless invited
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? NO If they do then the person should be sent to the Headmisstress
There I am done with what I had to say.

I think that there should be ways to prevent people from having more than 2 characters, I mean some people are just making characters in other houses so they can get the passwords. Other students should not be allowed in other common rooms period, I had a problem the other day with Magyn starting a thread in the Hufflepuff common room, its getting quite annoying. Plus people are basically abusing their privilages, claiming that they are perfect, know how to perform even the most difficult of spells and such.
Regarding the punishments, I don't care what happens to the people who are caught, I just don't want it to happen again. Oh, on another note something needs to be done about the students who are vampires or half vampires, they think they have all the authority and will threaten people if they don't get it, plus they command respect and will usually attempt to do something to a person who doesn't respect them. I especially have a problem with Magyn, shes done numerous things of which I won't go into detail. Whew, thats my rant....
Sorry if I got a bit off topic there ^, just had to get a lot off my chest.

should boys be alowed in the girl's dorm: No!
should girls be alowed in the boys dorm: as long as it it PG-13 and fits with the storyline
should people be alowd in other other people's common room: My opinion, No. But if they use the polyjuice potion :maybe if they have permision from the headmisteress
should people be alowed in a place where they don't belong (example: nonparslmouths in the Chamber of secerets): only if they are invited by one that is alowed to enter.
[glow=red,2,300]Above all lets stick with the books people.[/glow]

*is too lazy to read anyone elses posts*
Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? Well if we are going by the books, no, because of the whole Harry and Ron trying to get in thing.
Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? I suppose so, if we are going by the books (again) because Hermione could get in to the boys dorm.
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? I'm kind of going both ways here, I mean, in the books it is totally against the rules - but I'm pretty sure Harry and Ron got into the Slytherin common room with the Polyjuice potion. So maybe they should be allowed to get in to the common rooms, if they have a polyjuice potion - but if they get caught then they get punished (their character not user) also, Polyjuice potions are hard to make, so not everyone can go around saying they have a polyjuice potion. Also, for example, if a Gryffindor snuck a Ravenclaw in, then maybe that should be allowed, but if they are caught - again punished. Although then there might be way too many people 'sneaking in' and that would just loose the fun of having common rooms, so the professors and prefects would have to agree to be on the look-out for the whole sneaking in thing.
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? Well, for the chamber of secrets, I suppose they could, because in the second book of Harry Potter Harry gets Lockhart and Ron in... so it would be more 'Harry Potter like' if we did it that way. For the Forbiddon Forest I think that students should NOT be allowed in there. I have found that most creatures in the forbiddon forest do not do anything about students going in there, and professors rarely catch them. It kind of looses the whole point of the forest being forbidden if the creatures in there aren't going to do anything to students who trespass on their property. I think that on special occasions professors should be allowed in there (in the Harry Potter books they were allowed in there) and sometimes students with the professors for a detention for example (but only on the rare occasion).

Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? No, Because in the books this doesn't happen. Should girls be allowed in the boys dorms? Yes, As stated before this does happen. Must girls just don't do it because it could damage their reputation. This is my opinion as to why this doesn't happen more in the books.
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? I say yes, But only if thier Invited. But can be told to get out.
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? No unless they have permission from someone who is there and also that person is with them
But in my opinion you can only stick to the book only so much on this site. If you look at it, how many Lycans, Vampires, Anamagi, etc. actually attend at the school. I mean with the books its only one person thinking things out as she writes were as in a website you have Multiple personality clashes. People will reflect themselves through thier characters and with that you will have rule bending.
Good point in this is the forbidden forest. I (a Student) go there sometimes. Not all the time. But in doing so I put my character at risk of being killed. I know I'm not supposed to go in there but I do anyways. So I'm bending the rules, because I feel as though my character would go in there. But I also except the fact I can be killed.
Another point I like to add to this is that anybody should be able to be killed. Some just harder then others. I Don't Believe there should be any gods
AS I said before these Are only my opinions.

Girls should be allowed in the boys dorm because that's what the book says, and the book is our guidline.
Boys shouldn't be allowed in the girls dorms because, once again, that's what the book says, and the book is our guideline.
The only time a student from another house should be able to enter a common room other than their own is with a polyjuice potion. Not with somebody else from the house, not just because they want to, but only with the polyjuice potion.
I think that if a person let's say wanted to go into the Chamber of Secrets but they weren't a parseltongue, they should be allowed to. Harry took Ron and Professor Lockheart down with him in CoC.
Basically, we need to use the books as our guide. If it happens in the book, it should be allowed to happen on here. If it specifically says that something can't happen, like boys going into the girls dorms, then it shouldnt' be allowed.

Students that do not have specific powers should not enter in a place that is allowed only to the students with that power.

Should genderA be allowed in the genderB's dorms? Personally, I think it should either be both ways, or none at all. It's just not fair to allow one gender to do it, but not the other. I mean, as long as it remains appropriate does it matter?
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? Well, it's happened before. I mean, even Sirius Black got into a common room when he knew the password. But there should definitely be punishment for it.
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? If they're accompanied by someone who can take them there. Otherwise, no.

Should boys allowed to the girls dom? According to the book, no, because harry and ron tried but failed. It may be caused by some kind of ancient magic or it has something to do with the school rule. But in my opinion, it is up to the headmistress 's decision.
Should girls be allowed to the boys dom? According to the book [again] , I think so because Hermione did went in the boys dom. Or She found out a way to break the ancient spell.
Should students be allowed to enter other common rooms? I think they should not because they may find out secrets that must not be spread to the whole castle that has been kept by their houses.
Should students be allowed to go into places where they don't have the specific power to do so? I don't know about this but I suppose they could go because in the book harry and ron and many more went to the forbidden forest. harry and Ron also went the Chamber of Secrets.

boys in girls' dorms: there's textual evidence that guys can't go there, that's that.
girls in boys' dorms: again, textual evidence that allows it
students in other house rooms: when invited. and if you want it to be really realistic, i'm sure that would happen if it was a real school. high school students bend rules! it's our forte.
students in unauthorized places: if there are spells preventing that from happening, than students should do a better job of observing them and staying away.
boys from one house in the girls' dorm of a different house: negative
girls from one house in the boy's dorm of a different house: i say allow it. ...............HIGH SCHOOLERS!
non PG-13like text, if u must blacken it out:
[color=black]TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT TEXT[/color]
[see? i can say all sorts of nasty shyt. no one would be able to read it unless one highlights it with the cursor. this way if u don't want to read nasty shyt, don't. simple sollution i think. what do y'all think?]
it's the headmistress' ultimate decision

As for punishments, I think that if they are caught doing any of this that she should get a detention or something similar to it.

i don't think that boys or girls should be allowed in the other gender's dorms. bad words: that's why there are word filters, right? students going into places they can't go into normally: they need someone to take them there that does have the powers. punishments: it depends on the rule they broke. if it's a minor rule, like they spoke out of character in an IC post place only, then detention. but if it's a major rule, than suspenshion from this website, length of suspension depending on the rule broken.

AGREE...except...students should be allowed in other common rooms if invited

Should boys be allowed in the girls dorms? Well, if the boys can hack, then, yes they should be able to.
