Reese entered the board room and sat down gracefully in a chair next to the head chair. She opened a notebook and carefully went through some story ideas she'd been turned onto.
This meeting was more for getting to know who the other journalists were and then assignments would be handed out, so a paper could be out by the next week.
Reese had called the meeting because the paper had been lacking recently, giving the Daily Prophet a bad name. Numbers were plumeting and they were receiving owls every day about how there was no meat to the paper, it was all fluff. Reese hated that, and felt the need to change it, so she'd called a meeting to get the staff organized.

"Goodmorning Ms. Clearwood, nice to meet you, I'm Reese Caldwell, head reporter."
Reese stretched her hand out for Christina to shake, then sat down in her own seat.
"Well, I've been working here for several years, but I hardly know any of the staff members! I don't see them around much, and it seems you and I are the only ones who really write anymore. I just wanted to see who all still worked here and then hand out assignments to have a paper together by next week. I've received so many owls each day about how our paper is just terrible, not what it used to be, some even saying that they wanted Rita Skeeter back!"
Reese's face carried a full on shocked look at the thought of even the suggestion of Rita Skeeter coming back to the paper. She'd given journalists everywhere a bad name, and the whole wizarding community had hated her after what she'd said, or rather not said, about Harry Potter. If they were crying for her return, things must be pretty bad.
"Yes, I was the one that called the meeting. I'm worried about the paper, our numbers are plummeting at an alarming rate! We need to get some good stories in here, bring life back to the paper! Nobody wants to read dull stories about things that don't apply to them or about death and dying all the time, and most of our paper has turned to advertising! I know you've noticed it, it's hard to miss.
OoC: I'm just setting it up for the whole new paper you created, and for the paper to sort of make a comeback since nobody really knows that we've got a paper going. I'll post a biography too and you'll sort of see what I meant about Rita Skeeter and what happened to her, and that sort of thing.

"I could take the interviews with the judges. I do think it's important to ask them about the safety precautions they've put up because a lot of parents read the paper and will want to know that their children are safe because they know exactly what happened."
Reese paused. She had another thing she wanted to work on, but didn't want to give away her source.
"I would like to do a follow up on Marie-Anna Tomas. I've got a credible source in Hogwarts that happens to know quite a bit about what happened, including some suspects, or at least a very likely suspect description, and some other information. I can have the story done by tomorrow. So we'd have the First Task, champion interviews, judge interviews, Marie-Anna Tomas, and I don't really know that much about Quidditch, so I don't think I"d be the best one for that assignment. I'll look around for some possible Jr. Reporters at the school, you never know who we may find!"
Reese added excitedly.
"And another thing I'd thought of, since so many Hogwarts students receive the paper, we should include a mini paper for them, for all the stuff they'd want to know, like events calendars, study tips, etc. That would attract more of them to subscribe, and we coudl still circulate the regular paper, and adults would be able to see what the school is up to, as well as parents."
Reese thought it a stroke of genius herself, and hoped that the editor would approve of her idea.

Reese nodded her head and took a few notes, more jotting down ideas of questions to ask students, points she wanted to make, etc.
"That's a wonderful idea! Get several Jr. Reporters who can put together the mini paper for their school. Who better to know what's really going on in there but the students! I heard that they're starting up clubs, we should talk to the teacher about a special club where you have to submit your writing to be chosen for the group. If you're chosen, you get to work for the paper, get paid for it too, and you get to come to the Prophet several times a week! Students would love that, taking trips to the city. The closest thing they've got near Hogwarts is Hogsmeade, and not everybody can go there. This is going to be wonderful!"
Reese was thrilled about the ideas they were coming up with. She and the editor seemed to work very well together. The mood changed, though, when the recent death came up again.
"Yes, I'll do that one. I'll be sure to be in touch with the ministry. In fact, my next door neighbor is a top auror, I'll be sure to talk to him. I also want to talk to the Headmistress about what she's doing for the school in specific. We've got a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it in, but once we finish this paper, it's going to be brilliant!"
She smiled, ready for the tasks ahead. There would be many long days, sleepless nights, and endless amounts of coffee, but one way or another, a spectacular paper would be sold a week from that day.
OoC: We don't have to get it done in a week though, we'll just take our time. I'll post something in the clubs area and PM the HM about it.

Yes, he seems nice. A bit quiet, but friendly still.
*She smiled and then took the parchment from Christina. After she read the article from Dovesary, she smiled.*
This is very well written, I hope to see more from this girl! I hope that there are more like her! How many have we received so far?
OoC: The Headmistress said she'd have them sent to both of us. Sound good?
I am sorry to say that I am leaving the sight; I had to delete my posting for personal reasons. Christina Gabriela Clearwood
