Entering the large and beautiful Great Hall, a 5'8" woman with long brown hair made her way to the Staff Table in the front of the room. She scanned the four house tables filled with students chatting about their summer holidays and hopes for the coming school year. Tapping a fork on a glass, she called for attention. "Attention please! Attention everyone!"
Slowly the chatter died down until the Headmistress had everyone's full attention. "Thank you. First of all, I'd like to welcome all of you to another year of Hogwarts. I hope that all of you enjoyed your holiday and are now ready to get back into your classes. Speaking of classes, I'd like to introduce you to your professors for this year."
She turned to the professors sitting behind her. "When I introduce you, please stand up so the students know who you are." She said in a lower voice, so just the professors could hear. Whirling around to continue her speech, the Headmistress smiled at the many students below. "Professor Denise Bash is from Slytherin house and will teach Astronomy this year. Astronomy is held on Wednesday nights at the Astronomy Tower. It is a required class for first through fifth year students. Sixth and Seventh year students may continue with the subject if they received a satisfactory O.W.L. grade for it, or if they need the subject to prepare for their post-Hogwarts careers."
Allowing a few moments for Professor Bash to stand up, be acknowledged, and sit down again, she then continued. "Professor George Bones is from Gryffindor house. He is the head of Gryffindor house and will be teaching Charms this year. Charms, on the third floor, is also required for all first through fifth year students and is elective for sixth and seventh year students."
She waited for Professor Bones to have his moment and continued. "Professor Eles Cambrigon is from Hufflepuff house and will be teaching History of Magic, located on the first floor. History of Magic is required for all first through fifth year students and is an elective for sixth and seventh year students."
Pausing before continuing, she went on. "Professor Hanaralee Derysa is from Ravenclaw house. She is the head of Ravenclaw house and will be teaching Care of Magical Creatures this year. Care of Magical Creatures is located on the Courtyard of Hogwarts Grounds and is an elective for third through seventh year students."
Repeating the process of pausing for Professor Derysa, she continued again. "Professor Hermione Granger, who has not yet arrived, is an alumnae of Hogwarts from Gryffindor house. She will be teaching Transfiguration this year, located on the fourth floor. Transfiguration is required of all first through fifth year students and is an elective for sixth and seventh year students."
Since Hermione wasn't there yet, the Headmistress went on to the next professor. "Professor Draco Malfoy is an alumni of Hogwarts from Slytherin house. He was made Slytherin Head of House this year and will be teaching Potions. Potions is of course located on the Dungeon floor as it's always been, and is yet another class that is required of all first through fifth years students while being an elective for sixth and seventh year students."
Once again, she waited and continued. "Professor Narcissa Malfoy is also an alumnae of Hogwarts from Slytherin house as well. She will be teaching Defense Against The Dark Arts this year, located on the first floor. Defense Against The Dark Arts is also required for first through fifth years and is an elective for sixth and seventh years."
Pausing before introducing another professor, she went on. "Professor Paiya Rayne Tonks is the head of Hufflepuff house. She will be teaching Muggle Studies this year on the first floor. Muggle Studies is an elective for third through seventh year students."
Pausing again before introducing the final professor, she continued. "Alcippe is a centauress who will teaching Divination this year in Classroom 11, located on this very floor just a few doors away. Divination is also an elective for third through seventh year students."
Smiling and waiting for the final round of applause to die down, she took a breath and began once more. "Your classes will start today, September 1st. Remember, that means that house points are also now in effect and have the power to be given and taken away. I wish you all a wonderful year and let the feast begin!"
With that, plate after plate of delicious food appeared at each of the four house tables as well as the staff table and the Headmistress sat down to enjoy her meal.
