When I created this site, I allowed those who wanted a position (such as Head Boy, Head Girl, Prefect, Professor, Quidditch Captain, and Quidditch Player) a waiver because I wanted people to join the site and help get the site going. Because of this, most people who have those positions now were just handed the position without meeting any requirements.
However, now that this site has been around for a few months, I am going to re-evaluate those people in positions. Now, before all those who have a position completely panic, let me say this: I consider myself to be very reasonable and understanding and so far, I am pleased with the majority of those who have a position, so there's really not much to worry about.
I agree that those who have a position should be held to a higher standard, even just slightly. There are plenty of people who want positions and it's not fair to have people in positions who don't seem to care when there are people waiting for a position that deserve it more.
Position Requirements
Required For All Positions:
1.) Read The Rules Please read the Official Rules, the Profile Rules, and the Role-Playing Rules.
2.) Be Reasonably Active. Remember awhile ago when I asked for your opinion for a 'Standard of Activity'? Most people agreed that a minimum of 1 post per week was reasonable. I know that people have OOC lives (believe or not, I have an OOC life too!) and you don't have to be on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, if you have a position and you don't log in or post for a month, you're not taking your position seriously. If you do need to leave for an extended period of time, please remember to post in the Away Messages Board so that I can be aware of it and you probably won't lose your position (unless of course you decide to leave the site completely).
3.) Have Decent RP Skills. You don't have to be J. K. Rowling to get a position, but you do need fairly good RP skills to have a position because like I said, I agree that people in positions should be held to a higher standard than those without a position. It's not that hard to get decent RP skills and if you need help with RPing or want to improve, please remember that there is a RP Help Board just for that purpose!
4.) Fill Out The Application and Meet Additional Requirements. There will now be an application to fill out in order to get a position because in addition to just wanting a position, I want to know why you want it and what you plan to do with it. Additional requirements will vary depending on the position.
Additional Requirements[/U]

2.) Have at least 50 posts.
3.) Been registered for at least 2 weeks.
4.) Have participated in at least 5 threads in your house Common Room.
5.) Have attended at least 2 classes.
If you meet all of the above requirements and would like to be Quidditch Captain for your house, you must fill out and submit the application and you will know shortly thereafter. There is one Quidditch Captain for each house.
Please remember that the Head Boy & Head Girl, Prefects, and Quidditch Captains are supposed to be role models for other students!
Quidditch Players
In order to become a Quidditch Player, you must:
1.) Be at least a 2nd year student at Hogwarts.*
2.) Have at least 25 posts.
3.) Been registered for at least 1 week.
4.) Have participated in at least 2 threads in your house Common Room.
5.) Have attended at least 1 class.
If you meet all of the above requirements and would like to be a Quidditch Player for your house, you must fill out and submit the application and you will know shortly thereafter. There is two Beater positions, three Chaser positions, one Keeper position, and one Seeker position for each house.
*If you are a 1st year and want to be on a Quidditch team, you may have this requirement waived, but you must have good flying skills. 1st years who fly well enough to make the Quidditch Team will get a waiver for Flying Class (they don't have to take it).
Back-Up Quidditch Players
In order to become a Back-Up Quidditch Player, you must:
1.) Be a student at Hogwarts.
2.) Have at least 10 posts.
3.) Been registered for at least 4 days.
4.) Have participated in at least 1 threads in your house Common Room.
5.) Have attended at least 1 class.

There is two Back-Up Beater positions, three Back-Up Chaser positions, one Back-Up Keeper position, and one Back-Up Seeker position for each house.
Professor Requirements
Professors are well-schooled, intellectual people with so much skill that it is enough to teach others the art of their subject. In order to become a Professor, you must:
1.) Be At Least 21 Years Old This refers to your character's age, not your OOC age in real life.
2.) Have a Class List thread so you know who to expect in your class (this can be done by having a sign-up thread if your class is just beginning, or if you've had a few classes now and sign-ups are no long neccessary, you can just create a Class List thread and add new students as they come in). New people are always signing up on this site, so if a new student comes into your class, please allow them to take your class. There is a Master Student List for your convenience.
3.) Provide a list of Required Materials for your class (see the Required Materials Template). This is so students know what to bring. For example, if you have "bring a wizard chess set to each class" (that's just an example obviously) and the student says "I forgot my wizard chess set!", then you have option of taking points away from that student because it was on your Required Materials list.
4.) Make an online textbook (FreeWebs is a good website to use). In your textbook, you should have links for Class Rules (such as "Be respectful of other students", "No note-passing", "Pay attention when I'm speaking" or whatever rules you want), Classwork/Homework so students know what to pass in to you (make sure you specify whether it is to be posted or PMed to you) and of course the Text itself on what you are teaching).
5.) Hold a minimum of 1 class per month, and no more than 4 classes per month (once a week). Make sure you lock your class threads (when a class finishes so that no one else may post) before you start a new class.
6.) Have a Point Tally thread (sticky-locked), so the Headmistress can easily add House Points to the Hall of House Points! At the top it should say your class name and number (for example: "Staff Room Class 2") and then list the students from each house who attended and what points they received for their classwork and homework. Listing the students names and points helps me update the point leaders for each house and listing what class number it is helps me make sure I don't add the points in twice. When a new class begins, simply modify your Points Thread and starts the points over again (see Example). If a student that has signed up for your class does not attend, you have the option of deducting points away from them.
If you meet all of the above requirements and would like to be a Professor, you must fill out and submit the application and you will know shortly thereafter. There is one Head of House and five Professors for each house.
Professors are meant to be role models and something the students should aspire to be like. As a professor, you should make a good effort to follow the rules and set a good example. You are allowed to give homework, give or take class points as you see fit, and assign detention. Each professor has their own office somewhere in Hogwarts and should spend some time there in order to supervise detention, prepare for classes, or answer student's questions. All professors also have access to the Staff Room of Hogwarts.
Quidditch Referee
In order to become the Quidditch Referee, you must:
1.) Attend & Begin The Quidditch Match. The Quidditch Referee will begin the game by saying something along the lines of: "(Quidditch Referee) threw the Quaffle height into the air, and it was immediately intercepted by....."
2.) Follow & Occasionally Post In The Quidditch Game. The Quidditch Referee must check up on the match regularly while it is in progress so they can decide which team is role-playing better in order for a team to score a goal. Another part of their job is to follow the game and keep track of the score and who has the quaffle, etc. If there is a dispute over who has the quaffle, it is the Quidditch Referee's job to settle it.
3.) Tell Me Where To Hide The Golden Snitch. Since the Quidditch Referee does not have the power to modify any board on the site, they will instead tell me where to make the modification that will look like this:
YOU HAVE CAUGHT THE GOLDEN SNITCH!
That way, they will know what post it is on and can tell if a Seeker has correctly found it. To make it slightly easier for the Seeker, the Golden Snitch may not be hidden in any board that requires a password (like the Common Rooms or Dorms).
4.) Keep Track of The Score. It is the Quidditch Referee's job to keep track of the game's score and post the score on the first post of the match (the post in which the Quidditch Referee started the game) and update it as needed.
5.) Settle Disputes. If there is a dispute over something, it is the Quidditch Referee's job to settle it.
6.) End & Lock The Game. When a Seeker successfully finds the snitch, it is the Quidditch Referee's job to RP the end of the game and to lock the thread afterwards.
Note: Anything that is italicized this is recommended, but not required...for now.
