Note (OOC): These rules were taken from Wilting Rose on Magical Horizons and modified for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The original thread is here.
The Official Rules of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
These are the official rules for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please stay aware of them and obey them. Breaking the rules may result in the removal of house points and detentions. Repeated rule-breaking may result in suspension or even expulsion from the school. Should you have any questions about any of these rules, please PM Jill Rosanna Briarson, headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
1.) Activeness. When you register, you have 1 week to become sorted and to get your profile to comply with the Profile Rules. If you aren't sorted and haven't posted within 1 week of your registration, you will be sent an e-mail to remind you to post. If you aren't sorted and don't post within 1 week of the sent email, then you may be removed from the site. Those who have a position (Head Boy, Head Girl, Prefect, Professor, Quidditch Captain, Quidditch Player) must stay relatively active or they risk losing their position.
2.) Advertising. Many people seem to have their own proboards site or another site they wish to advertise. Advertising is allowed on this site, but ONLY on the Advertising Board in the Muggle World, in your signature, or through PM. Advertising anywhere outside of those areas will be deleted.
3.) Biographies. There is a section for both in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC) biographies in the Muggle World. Writing a bio is not required, but a well thought-out character will help you role-play better. Knowing your character's background determines how their going to act in the present on the site.
4.) Deletion of Characters. If you decide that you no longer wish to use one of your characters, or one of your characters has been killed, please do not delete them as it creates the impression that every post that character made was created by a Guest instead of a registered member.
5.) The Faerie Woodland. This board is not as dangerous as the "lethal" boards (the The Death Eater's Hideout and the Forbidden Forest). The Faeries do not mind visitors as long as they are respectful to the residents of the Woodland.
6.) The Death Eater's Hideout and Forbidden Forest. These two boards are "lethal" boards – the creatures who inhabit the Forbidden Forest are often riled by wandering students, and you are likely to be severely attacked or even killed if you enter. Repeated entry into the Forest can earn you a punishment – these boards do not belong to the students of the School, and should not be treated as if they are.
7.) Killing of Characters. The killing of any character that does not belong to you is not allowed, under any circumstances, unless that character has given you permission to kill them beforehand. This is an offence taken very seriously, and can grant you immediate suspension from the school. "Lethal" boards such as the Death Eaters Hideout and the Forbidden Forest are dangerous, and it is only there that the residents of that board are allowed to kill without prior permission.
8.) Names. All human characters such as (Aurors, Azkaban Prisoners, Daily Prophet Reporters, Death Eaters, Healers, Ministry Workers, Professional Quidditch Players, Professors, Shop Owners, and Students) are required to have a first and last name. Middle names are optional. Non-human characters such as Centaurs, Dementors, Faeries, Ghosts, Giants, Goblins, House-Elves, Leprechauns, Mermaids/Mermen, Nymphs, Paintings, Phantoms, Pixies, Poltergeists, Sprites, Vampires, and Werewolves are allowed to have only one name if they desire. This is to make the site more realistic.
8.)Pets and Wands. All student characters are required to have a wand. Pets are optional.
9.) Relationships Relationships are permitted, but please remember that this board has a PG13 rating and there are some young teenagers here. That means that you must keep it at a fairly tame level. No RPing sexual content on the boards. If anything highly sexual is posted, it should be reported to me and I will delete it. As for Slash (homosexual) relationships, those are permitted as well, but the same rules apply. Just because J. K. Rowling didn't specifically say that anyone in the Harry Potter books was gay doesn't mean that there can't be gay witches and wizards. This board is meant to be open-minded and friendly, so please no gay-bashing.
10.) Role-Playing Help. If you are new to role-playing and are looking for some tips and help, please go to Role-Playing Help in the Muggle World.
11.) Sorting and Other Requests (including special abilities, powers, privelages, and statuses). If you are new and need to be placed into a group, please go to the Sorting Ceremony to be sorted. Students may have ONLY 1 power.
Note: Anything that is crossed out likethis is recommended, but not required...for now.
