Sorry, but there are no more openings for Professors at this time!
Professor Requirements, Rules, & Vacancies
Professors should be 21 or older (Snape was 21 when he started teaching at Hogwarts), and it would be best if they were at least 25 or even 30 or older. Professors are well-schooled, intellectual people with so much skill that it is enough to teach others the art of their subject. In order to become a professor, you must:
1.) Have a first and last name in accordance with the Profile Rules.
2.) Have a Class List thread so you know who to expect in your class (this can be done by having a sign-up thread if your class is just beginning, or if you've had a few classes now and sign-ups are no long neccessary, you can just create a Class List thread and add new students as they come in). New people are always signing up on this site, so if a new student comes into your class, please allow them to take your class. There is a Master Student List thread that I update weekly for your convenience. If your class is required for 1st - 5th years, you should check the Master Student List to see who should be in your class and also if there are any new students that should be in your class. If your class is required for 1st - 5th year students and a student who is required to take your class doesn't want to, you can allow them to drop your class.
3.) Provide a list of Required Materials for your class (see the Required Materials Template). This is so students know what to bring. For example, if you have "bring a wizard chess set to each class" (that's just an example obviously) and the student says "I forgot my wizard chess set!", then you have option of taking points away from that student because it was on your Required Materials list.
4.) Make an online textbook (FreeWebs is a good website to use). In your textbook, you should have links for Class Rules (such as "Be respectful of other students", "No note-passing", "Pay attention when I'm speaking" or whatever rules you want), Classwork/Homework so students know what to pass in to you (make sure you specify whether it is to be posted or PMed to you) and of course the Text itself on what you are teaching).
5.) Hold a minimum of 1 class per month, and no more than 4 classes per month (once a week). Make sure you lock your class threads (when a class finishes so that no one else may post) before you start a new class.
6.) Have a Point Tally thread (sticky-locked), so the Headmistress can easily add House Points to the Hall of House Points! At the top it should say your class name and number (for example: "Staff Room Class 2") and then list the students from each house who attended and what points they received for their classwork and homework. Listing the students names and points helps me update the point leaders for each house and listing what class number it is helps me make sure I don't add the points in twice. When a new class begins, simply modify your Points Thread and starts the points over again (see Example).
Professors are meant to be role models and something the students should aspire to be like. As a professor, you should make a good effort to follow the rules and set a good example. You are allowed to give homework, give or take class points as you see fit, and assign detention. Each professor has their own office somewhere in Hogwarts and should spend some time there in order to supervise detention, prepare for classes, or answer student's questions. All professors also have access to the Staff Room on the ground floor of Hogwarts.
